Grade 6 will be studying the following units this year in computer class:
* Binary Code - understanding what binary code is and how to encode and decode text and numbers, they will also learn how to convert images into pixels. Students will work through a series of worksheets and use their notebooks in class to take detailed notes on this topic. There will an end of unit test on this unit which covers all the skills outlined in this course.
* Software and hardware - students in this unit will learn the differences and uses of software and hardware in a PC. They will learn about each peripheral such as the network and graphics card, the motherboard and CPU. Students will work through a series of worksheets and use their notebooks in class to take detailed notes on this topic. There will an end of unit test on this unit which covers all the skills outlined in this course.
* Introduction into Programming- Students will work on the course online at code.hs. This is an advancement on the courses covered in the lower school. This course revisits coding concepts such as Functions and For Loops. Click here for the full curriculum.
*Adobe Spark- Students will learn how to record video, import it and edit the video in Abode Spark. They will plan and create a movie on Internet Safety and digital footprint.
* Typing - students will continue to develop their typing skills.
